As soon as the weather warms up, I feel like I automatically have more energy. And I also start craving fresher, healthier foods, including juices. There are sooo many benefits of fresh pressed juice for your skin, body, and overall health. Below are three of my favorite recipes. If you don’t have a juicer, I definitely recommend this one. It’s on the lower end of the price range for juicers but works great. My tips for using it are below too!
I love this Kitchenaid peeler, it’s so easy to hold & peel veggies! I cut the cucumbers into spears like this for juicing.
Green Goodness
- 1/2 bushel of kale greens {including stems}
- 4-6 stalks of celery
- 1/2 cucumber {peeled}
- 1 apple
- 1/2 lemon
- 1/4 lime
- 4-5 stems of fresh mint {leaves and stems all can go in}
- piece of ginger
- 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder or more if desired {I use a full teaspoon}
Why it’s great & some tips:
Everyone knows kale is a superfood so I don’t need to give that an explanation lol. But what you may not know is that leafy greens really help to bring a glow to your skin & complexion. Especially paired with these other ingredients.
Celery juice has been a huge trend lately, and I’ll admit, I haven’t made pure celery juice yet, but I’ve always loved adding it to juices. Celery has anti-inflammatory properties as well as vitamin K which is great for bone & heart health. Cucumber is excellent for hydration {they are literally 96% water!} plus antioxidants. Apple, lemon, and lime have tons of vitamins & nutritional benefits, but also help balance out the taste from the greens. The apples go in with skin on, but peel the rind off of the lemons & limes. The white fleshy part is fine to leave on.
Lime is very powerful when juicing, so only a little bit is needed unless you really love lime, which I do, but still, 1/4 – 1/2 goes a long way. Ginger is another one where a little goes a long way when juicing so just cut off a little piece {see photo}. It’s great for bloating or any tummy troubles as well as muscle pain & soreness and inflammation.
Turmeric is also great for inflammation and muscle recovery. It’s even been linked to helping with arthritis pain and depression. I just add the powder after I juice all the other ingredients. I love this brand for all my spices! They are organic & affordable.
Pineapple Pep
- 1/2 a pineapple {cut in spears like photo below}
- 1/2 cucumber
- 1/2 lemon
- 1/4 lime
- 4-5 stems of fresh mint {leaves and stems all can go in}
- piece of ginger
- 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder or more if desired {again, I use a full teaspoon}
Why it’s great & some tips:
Pineapple is known to be great for the immune system. I LOVE pineapple and eat it for breakfast almost every single morning. Tons of vitamin C and antioxidants. It can also aid in digestion. I add cucumber to balance out the sugar of the pineapple and amp up the hydration. See top recipe for all the benefits of the other additions to this juice. This one is my all time favorite, it’s sooo yummy!
You’ll want to do a quick clean of your juicer in between every couple of juices if you are doing a bunch at a time to make sure that it works optimally. Just take the screwed on end off and the internal screw & cover and give them a rinse in the sink before putting it back together. Then you’re good to go!
Beets for Beauty
- 1 medium beet {plus some of the stems and leaves if you’d like}
- 3-4 stems of kale greens {including stems}
- 3-4 stalks of celery
- 1 apple
- 1/2 lemon
- piece of ginger
- 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder or more if desired {again, I use a full teaspoon}
Why it’s great & some tips:
This probably sounds so silly, but whenever I eat beets I just feel like they are brightening my complexion & making me look more awake lol. Maybe it’s because they are known for fending off exhaustion & inflammation. They help to keep you focused, support brain & digestive health, and reduce blood pressure among many other things. They are really a super super food! The stems and leaves also have so many nutrients so I like to throw a few in, just make sure you rinse them because they can come kinda dirty lol. They provide a lot of juice and a powerful flavor.
If you haven’t cooked or juiced beets before, take note, they stain EVERYTHING lol…hands, countertop, cutting board, clothes lol…it rinses off of most things but just be careful of your clothes. See the top recipe for more details on all the benefits & nutrients of the rest of these ingredients! This recipe has the perfect balance of the leafy green flavor with the sweetness of the beets and the citrus flavors, with a kick of ginger! 🙂
I LOVE these knives you’ve seen pictured & had to share. We got the block set off of our registry for our wedding, and I never knew a knife could cut so well. Seriously. They are an investment, but they come with a sharpener so I plan to use these forever lol. You can get the block in about 5 different colors based on your kitchen decor!
We also got these great juicing bottles off Amazon along with the white brush below for easy cleaning of them. The small gray brush below came with our juicer and helps to scrub the parts of it so nothing gets stuck on there. Everything is dishwasher safe though!
Of course it’s always more fun to drink out of a fancy glass 🙂 Happy juicing!
