If you’ve been following me for a while, you may have seen my post on my long-time favorite sunless tanning product a few months back. If not, check it out here. Though I love these sunless tanning towelettes, when I see other self-tanning products over and over, I like to try them out to make sure I am not missing out on something better. That’s what happened with these sunless tanning drops. I saw them so many times online in various places that I figured they must be worth trying out.
I should mention that I have tried A LOT of other sunless tanning products over the years, and these two are truly the best I have found. Even some others that I saw top bloggers recommend and some that are very expensive cannot beat these two products. I paid $50 for a box of tanning towelettes once that were recommended by a top blogger, and not only did they not provide ANY color {literally nothing} but they smelled horrible & cost a fortune! *these were the Kate Somerville Sunless Tanning Towelettes…I should mention that I love a lot of her other products, but these towelettes I do not recommend*
I posted a YouTube video discussing the pros & cons of both of these products, which you can watch here! Make sure you check that out for more tips on how to use both of these products for the best, most natural tan. But to break down the pros & cons in an easy, organized way, I wanted to write this post for you as well.
My TOP TIP for both of these products: Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! Make sure you moisturize your whole body after using the towelette to help blend everything in, and hit dryer & wrinklier spots like the knees, elbows, and ankles with extra moisturizer when using the drops!
L’Oreal Sublime Bronze Self-Tanning Towelettes
Pros
- Foolproof! I’ve never once had blotchy or uneven spots
- Practically instantaneous color – within an hour you are fully tan!
- Mess-free
- Helps to clear my skin from breakouts & uneven skintone!
- Doesn’t rub off on clothes or sheets even just shortly after application
- Nice tan color, not orange-y
- Very affordable
Cons
- Color is not customizable
- If you want to just do one area of your body {like legs or face} you need to cut the towelette or waste the rest of it – drops are easier to do this with
- Color doesn’t get as dark as the drops if you use a lot of drops
Tan-Luxe Illuminating Self-Tan Body Drops & Face Drops
Pros
- Customizable color
- Can build a gradual tan
- Nice tan color, not orange-y
- One bottle can last a lot of uses
- Easy to tan just the face or just the legs etc. rather than needing to do the entire body
Cons
- Color takes longer to show {at least 5+ hours before the tan fully actualizes}
- Rubs off on light colored clothing & sheets shortly after application {need to wait hours to be safe this won’t happen}
- Face drops don’t provide as much color as I would like even when using a full dropper full
- NOT foolproof – need to exfoliate before use & be VERY careful when applying so you don’t get blotchy, missed, or extra dark areas
