I have to admit, I’ve been pretty lucky in the past with my hair. It was always pretty neutral, not too greasy or too dry, just somewhere in between. I used to be able to wash my hair only 2-3 times per week {hair professionals recommend this amount of washing} and just use dry shampoo {the BEST invention ever lol} in between.

Unfortunately my luck has recently run out lol. They say your hair changes every seven years, so that could be the reason, but I think it’s more likely something else. You see, I went off of birth control about 6 months ago. I had been on it since I was 16 for irregular cycles, and wow, I’m realizing now how that can really impact your body.
When I first started taking birth control, I didn’t notice any changes to my body, other than the fact that my periods came regularly. No weight gain or loss, no skin changes, none of that. So I guess I assumed that going off of it would just be the same and it wouldn’t impact me. I was definitely wrong. Has anyone else had a similar experience? I have asked a few friends and they have had similar experiences unfortunately. Ever since going off of it, my scalp and face have been excessively oily, and I’ve been relearning how to handle my skin and hair.

This scalp scrub has truly been the only thing that has made a noticeable difference that lasts more than a day. Even if you haven’t had the same type of experience as me, if you ever feel like your hair needs a good clean, this is your product! I tried a number of other scalp scrubs and about 10 different shampoo options before finding this one so I can really say I did my homework here.
So how do you use it? The packaging says use 1 tablespoon and massage into your scalp. After my experience with some of the others I tried before this one, I was a bit doubtful that only a tablespoon was needed. Many of the others didn’t lather well and I ended up adding more and more and then my hair was a mess afterwards and I couldn’t get the scrub out fully. But with only one tablespoon of this, it started to lather and scrub my scalp and was definitely enough!
And let me tell you, it felt uh-may-zing! 🙂 I felt like I was at my salon getting a professional scalp scrub {by the way, if your stylist or salon doesn’t give you a scalp scrub when you get your hair cut or colored, you need to find a new salon lol! Seriously though, it’s the best part!} My salon gives the best so if you are in the Northern or Central NJ area, check out Dasi Salon!

I scrub it in for a few minutes and pull it through my hair a bit and also make sure to get the back of my neck where my hairline starts and around my ear area. Then just rinse it out and condition as usual. I’ve been using it once a week or once every two weeks and using a shampoo in between a couple times a week as to not overdo it on my scalp, and it really has extended my washes and made my hair stay non-greasy throughout the day and days following the scrub.
This scalp scrub has definitely been a Godsend for me. It’s an investment, but so worth it. I finally feel confident with my hair again and don’t need to wear it up every day! And with only using a tablespoon at a time and once per week or less, it will last you a while! I hope it works for you too and gets you your cleanest, shiniest hair! Let me know in the comments if you try it!
